Born in the historic city of Fez, Rime Sbai is a Moroccan visual artist whose work serves as a bridge between traditional craftsmanship and modern expression. With a unique academic background in International Business and Visual Arts from Saint Louis University, Rime blends an analytical mind with a rebellious artistic spirit.
The Vision
Since childhood, art has been Rime’s primary language for expressing emotion. Her work challenges traditional norms and explores the complexities of identity and beauty. Drawing inspiration from Morocco’s rich art history, she deconstructs tradition to create pieces that provoke thought and celebrate inclusivity, freedom, and creativity. Her style is defined by vibrant colors and dynamic compositions, balancing playful energy with meaningful social critique
Art Beyond the Canvas
Rime Sbai is best known for her philosophy of taking art out of the gallery and integrating it into everyday life. Through her concept of "Artgression," she transforms ordinary objects—such as clothing, ceramics, and slippers—into moving masterpieces. By treating artwear and accessories as canvases, she makes creativity an integral part of daily routine while honoring the legacy of Moroccan artisanship.
The Philosophy: "Artgressions"
For Rime, art should not be confined to silent galleries. It must be lived, worn, and experienced. This belief birthed her concept of "Artgressions" (Art + Transgression)—a movement to democratize art by taking it out of conventional spaces and integrating it into everyday life.
"My philosophy is to make art accessible. To decline my universe onto daily products and bring art out of the conventional gallery space."
Exhibitions & Recognition
Rime has exhibited her work in galleries across Morocco and internationally, gaining recognition for her distinctive "Pop Art meets Heritage" aesthetic. She remains committed to exploring new forms of expression, using her art to narrate the stories of a changing world.
